This class covers the neuromuscular processes governing the stretch reflex and inverse stretch reflex. Participants will learn how to achieve improved balance and function throughout the body.  This is primarily a hands-on course consisting of a short lecture then instructor demonstrations followed by return demonstrations from students.  Students will learn indications and contraindications for stretching tissues.  They will learn and demonstrate proper assessment for the ROM end feel of the glenohumeral joint.  Students will learn and demonstrate how to apply pin and stretch, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching and active cross friction techniques for the upper body/trunk, neck, arms, and hands.

Massage tables are provided. Registrants must provide their own table linens. Registrants should wear loose, comfortable clothing to class. A certificate of completion with 8 CE will be issued from Marshal Hartley of Massage In Motion.  This course is limited to 16 seats and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  There are no perquisites other than licensure.  To register, visit www.cccti.edu or call 828-726-2200.
